WIDE EXPERIENCE & YEARS OF PRACTICE

Dr. Baker graduated with the highest honors from Tulane University and Tulane Medical School and trained in orthopedic surgery at Baylor in the Texas Medical Center at Houston. He has been in practice since 1993.


 After graduating summa cum laude from Tulane in Biology with a GPA of 3.98, he received his M.D. degree from Tulane School of Medicine (’88), where he was elected to the AOA Honor Medical Society. He then completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the prestiguous Baylor College of Medicine-Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center at Houston. Following his residency training he was assigned to Keesler AFB, MS to serve four years in the Air Force to pay back a military scholarship to medical school before beginning his practice in Louisiana.


Dr. Baker is a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, as well as a lifetime member of the American Medical Association. He has been active in organized medicine, having served as president of the St. Bernard Parish Medical Society as well as serving on the Louisiana State Medical Society Council on Legislation and Insurance Committee.


To maintain board certification, orthopedic doctors are required to re-certify every ten years after having extensive continuing medical education and peer review. In 1994 Dr. Baker re-certified in the 94th percentile, that is in the top 6% of all orthopedists, with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons (ABOS). He re-certified with the ABOS again 2013 in the 93rd percentile, again placing his score near the top for orthopedic surgeons testing that year.
