Many people have asked Dr. Baker what his office was like after Katrina. If you're interested we've attached a few of his photos from October 1, 2005 in a web photo gallery.
My wife and I ventured into my old office building about a month after hurricane Katrina. I practiced in Chalmette which was slightly east of New Orleans (site of the Battle of New Orleans with Andrew Jackson). The area was devastated, and the medical office building and hospital across the street were eventually completely demolished as total loses. Boats were still by the side of the road, and the flood line could be seen on the walls twelve feet high. It was so sad to see this scene played out again every few years, most recently in Houston. Unfortunately poor planning with respect to the potential for flooding can put communities in areas that may be best left to nature.
